Division is the method where we try to distribute a certain number of things into equal parts. For example, Dividing 20 apples among 5 people means that we have to distribute the 20 apples in such a way that all the 5 people have the same number of apples.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading eplus-wrapper\" id=\"0-what-is-dividend\">What is Dividend?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"eplus-wrapper\">In a division problem, the number that is to be divided or distributed into a certain number of equal parts is called the dividend. As in the example above, when we are dividing 20 apples into 5 people, the dividend is the number 20; and the number 5 is called the divisor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"eplus-wrapper\">When the dividend is totally divisible by the divisor, the number so gained is called the quotient. While dividing 20 apples between 5 people, we see that each person gets 4 apples. We write this in equation form as&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"eplus-wrapper\">20 \u00f7 5 = 4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"eplus-wrapper\">Here, the number 4 is the quotient.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"eplus-wrapper\">In case when the dividend is not totally divisible by the divisor, we get some remaining amount.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"eplus-wrapper\">For example, if we were to divide 21 apples among 5 people, we would only be able to give 4 apples to each person and then we would be leftover with 2 apples.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"eplus-wrapper\">This number 2 which is left after
