In a fraction $\\frac{a}{b}$, the number\u00a0 \u201ca\u201d on the top is the numerator that represents the number of parts taken, and the number \u201cb\u201d on the bottom is the denominator that represents the total number of equal parts.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since a half represents one part out of 2 equal parts of the whole, the numerator is 1 and the denominator is 2.
