But which part do you calculate first?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"eplus-wrapper wp-block-paragraph\">You may start from the left and get one answer. This rule is known as the order of operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading eplus-wrapper\" id=\"0-what-is-the-order-of-operations-in-math\">What Is the Order of Operations in Math?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"eplus-wrapper wp-block-paragraph\">If you have an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.splashlearn.com\/math-vocabulary\/number-sense\/expression\">expression<\/a> where all the operations are the same (example: only addition, only subtraction, only multiplication, or only division) then the correct way to solve it would be from left to right. But for expressions with multiple operations, we need to follow the order of operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"eplus-wrapper wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The order of operations is the rule that tells us the sequence in which we should solve an expression with multiple operations.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"eplus-wrapper wp-block-paragraph\">A way to remember that order is PEMDAS.
