Writing Sight Words
Get Started with Learning the OO Words
Both long and short groups of words are used frequently. A few short OO sounds include hook, shook, took, hood, etc. Long OO sounds are spoon, noon, too, cartoon, or soon.
- The sound [u] is the most commonly used pronunciation for the letter OO. For example, in words such as loop, moon, food, and zoo.
- Another common pronunciation is the UH sound, as in hoodie, foot, cook, and book.
- The AW is yet another pronunciation in some common words with the letter O-O. Some common words in this context are floor, poor, and door.
Let's Make the Learning More Interesting
The best and most fun way to do it is to pronounce them daily. Your child will enjoy making pronunciations. Let them identify the daily objects and pronounce the same.
Sit down with your child and watch videos focusing on the OO words. Read books with your child that contain the OO words. Continuously make them practice and review your child's progress.
Get some pictures with short and long OO sounds. For words with the short OO sound, just write OO in the word. However, for a longer OO sound, write OOOOOOO. This is a great way to show the difference between the two sounds.
Working from the sound level to the word level, then on to the sentence level, and finally to the passage level enables children to see how everything they're learning fits together. Visual representation has a powerful impact on the minds of kids in any grade.
Since kids can quickly get bored with the learning process, SplashLearn's game-based and educational learning make it interactive and simpler so that your kids grasp better information. You can improve their language skills with challenging online learning games starting today!
