Writing Sight Words
Forming the Letter U
The letter U has two vertical lines and a curve. So, the kid has to start to draw the vertical line from the top, come down to make a curve, and then go back to the top by drawing a straight line. When kids of any grade learn to best trace, their small muscles within the fingers, hands, and wrists are not much developed to follow the same motor skills in drawing both vertical and curved lines.
Once they have mastered the uppercase letter U, you can teach them the lowercase, which has one more straight line to its left. Ensure that they are not lifting the pencil while writing. They may go wrong when drawing the curve of the letter, but, eventually, constant practice can enable them to write in a freeflowing way.
Joining the Broken Lines
Kids tend to focus on joining the broken tracing lines. Thus, they do not pay more attention to the actual letter and shape. However, with interactive and fun letter tracing online educational games, the learning process can never become dull. SplashLearn has several curriculumaligned games that follow Common Core Standard. So, when your kid is enjoying these games, you can rest assured that they are not just playing games but learning.
Is there something we missed out on? Write to us at help@splashlearn.com with your feedback and comments. We would love to hear from you and enhance the learning experience for your kids.
